The Linmere Community forum was officially launched on Monday 04 November, with the first forum meeting, at The Farmstead. Chaired by Emma Farrier, Linmere Community Marketing and Engagement Manager, alongside Marlen Gray, Estates Officer from the Land Trust, the forum hosted Linmere residents, invited to join the forum and establish its function in Linmere.
The Linmere Community Forum has been established to provide a regular forum for engaging with residents and stakeholders, promoting a two-way dialogue and providing opportunities for residents to help shape the forward Linmere plan. The forum will share development updates, with forum residents, exchange feedback and establish ways to share information with the wider residents and recruit more forum members from the community.
There were several updates discussed in the first forum.
01 The Neighbourhood Centre
The Linmere team shared some images of the new Neighbourhood Centre. The final development deal was completed very recently, with ground works starting almost immediately. We will share an update on the website shortly.
02 Phase Four Development
A number of housing developers were invited to a pre-marketing presentation on Phase Four, including Linmere’s plans for green spaces, connected neighbourhoods and maintaining the ethos of the Linmere development. The response has been very positive, with many house builders expressing an interest to bid for parcel releases.
03 Green Park
The scheme for the open, green space next to Thornhill School, and opposite the Neighbourhood Centre, is nearing its final planning, with work scheduled to start in summer 2025.
The forum also discussed the renaming of Green Park, before the facility is opened. Ideas are open to input from the forum, including offering an opportunity for residents to input into the process.
04 Events
There’s been a positive response to events at The Farmstead and Linmere Park over the past year, particularly family activity in the park, and support for seeing these activities continue next year. The forum also noted the need for cycling support across early years, helping particularly younger residents build their introductory skills.
05 Communications
The quarterly newsletter, Facebook and Instagram continue to be popular sources of news and events, with a desire to see more email communications, as Facebook usage can be intermittent.
06 Any other business
The forum raised some comments related to parking, lighting on the park and sharing the results of the previous resident’s engagement survey. The Linmere team will report back at the next forum meeting.
Full minutes, from the forum, will soon be available on the website.
Joining the Linmere Community Forum
The community forum will meet quarterly, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday 03 February, at The Farmstead. The response to the first meeting has been very positive, and we want to grow the forum with new members. If you’re interested in joining, please send an email to community@linmere.com.
