Linmere Children’s Trails

Walking trails for younger residents

Connecting with nature and our surrounds is an important feature of living in Linmere, for all ages and generations. Our Children’s Trails provide encouragement for younger residents, and parents, to enjoy the open, green spaces, around Phase One, and get some reward for their efforts!

We’ve created 2 trails for children of all ages. Our Tiny Acorns Trail is ideal for younger children, using the magic of plaque-rubbing, through Linmere Park. Our Lime Tree Orienteers Trail uses the wonders of the technology, through the What3Words app, to self-guide young trailers, again through Linmere Park.

This page will give you all you need to get started, including links to the trail leaflets, and get you and the family out for a rewarding trail-walk, only minutes from your front door!

Linmere Tiny Acorns Trail

Ideal for younger children, to discover different species of trees, including a Lime Tree, after all Linmere was named after the Lime Tree!

Starting at The Farmstead, trailing through Linmere Park, participants can use a simple leaflet to find 8 rubbing-plaques, revealing different leaf patterns. Using a pencil or crayon, complete the 8 rubbing squares and return it to The Farmstead, to receive a congratulatory sticker!

What will I need to complete the trail:

  • A trail map from Roam Café Bistro or you can download one here.
  • A pencil or crayon to complete the rubbings.
  • Lots of energy to run around!

Use a pencil or crayon to unleash the magic of plaque-rubbing and complete the trail!

Lime tree orienteers Trail

Suitable for older children, this self-guided trail has been uniquely designed to  build digital skills with the use of the smart phone App called What3Words to learn all about orienteering and map reading.

What will I need to complete the trail:

  • A trail map from Roam Café Bistro or you can download one here.
  • A pencil to complete the clues.
  • A smart phone with the What3Words installed or you can get the app here.

Once you’re ready to go head over to Linmere Park and get started. The trail takes you through some of Linmere’s most scenic paths, with checkpoints marked by What3Words addresses. Each checkpoint offers a new coding challenge to try your hand at. You’ll be able to learn all about the local environment and geography along the way, so it is a truly interactive walking trail ideally for you and the family to complete.

The trail is ideal for discovering features of Linmere Park!
