Following last year’s participation, Linmere are, again, teaming with Central Beds Council, to play a big part in this year’s Modeshift TravelWise Week, from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 September. TravelWise week is a national campaign to promote active travel, and other cleaner and healthier transport choices, coinciding with European Mobility Week and World Car Free Day, on Monday 22 September.
To support the campaign, along with Central Beds Council, we’re going to be promoting some fun and rewarding initiatives to encourage Linmere residents, and neighbours, to explore alternative travel options. These include walking, cycling around Linmere, as well as public transport on bus and rail beyond.
Starting on Monday 15 September, we’re going to theme each day of the week to a specific, sustainable travel mode. Each day will require some participation for you to win a prize!
Monday 15 September – Win a craft & colouring set with your artistic skills
This one’s for our younger residents! Simply download one of the colouring sheets, using the link here, and send your completed efforts into info@linmere.com, by Sunday 21 September, and we’ll reward the best effort with the prize!

TUESDAY 16 September – Win A WEEK’S FREE BUS PASS
Grab a selfie on a bus, next to a bus, near a bus… just make sure it’s you and it’s a bus! Entries will go into a draw to win a free bus pass for a week! And that might be your chance to try out the Jo or the L for a week! Share your effort on our Facebook post, on the day, to be in the draw! Please ensure you do this safely, and you’re fully aware of the environment around you.

WEDNESDAY 17 September – Win A SMART WATCH!
This time grab a selfie on a train, taken safely, within the train. Entries will go into a draw to win smart watch! Please ensure you do this safely, and you’re fully aware of the environment around you.

THURSDAY 18 September – Join us for a Linmere Loop Walk
We’re hosting a Linmere Loop Walk from 10am, on Thursday morning. Meeting at the Farmstead, we’ll cross into Linmere Park, over the footbridge and pick up the trail of ‘Loop 2’. The walk will take just over an hour, routing back to The Farmstead, where you’ll get a free hot beverage, as a reward! Use the link to book your free place here.
Loop 2 will offer you an ideal introduction to the nature trails around Linmere.
FRIDAY 19 September – Free EV Car Hire!
Enjoy a free, day’s hire of a Hiya EV car, located at The Farmstead. Central Beds Council will be providing a unique discount code to cover the cost of the car hire, leaving only the insurance cover. Details to follow.
Hiya cars are sited in the overflow car park, at The Farmstead.
SUNDAY 21 September – Spokes & Folks friendly cycle ride!
Join the Linmere Cycling Hub team, for a pleasant Sunday morning ride around Linmere and Houghton Regis. This is for average riders, looking for a gentle, family-friendly ride, at a soft pace around the local area. Starting at 11am from The Farmstead, details to follow!
