We drew a good crowd of residents and neighbours for Land Trust’s annual Summer in the Park, on Sunday 24 August, on Linmere Park. The weather was ideal, providing a perfect canopy for 3 hours of family-packed entertainment.
The 30ft Climbing Tower returned this year, with queues of new climbers from start to finish, with most participants summiting the climb! Marlen (from Land Trust) hosted the Summer Bug Hunt, sponsored by Barratt Homes, with lots of families and little residents rummaging through the wilder borders of the park to collect samples of the local habitat. It was remarkable how much was collected and identified, before returning them all home!
Aaron the Storyteller provided the live entertainment, with some child-favourite stories and craft sessions, proving to be a real hit with his audiences and definitely a children’s entertainer we’d like to hire again.
The traditional slot of a petting zoo was hosted by Teaching Talons, with their collection of reptiles, insects, Guinea Pigs and Rabbits. However, it was ‘Pig’ the gorgeous, Southern-Faced White Owl who stole the show, with his gaping, orange eyes and his relaxed character around children!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us on the day, and to Marlen and Barratt Homes for their support in building community events in Linmere.
Enjoy the video and the pics below – thanks for making it a memorable Summer in the Park this year!
