Your first Christmas in Linmere
December 25th is that one day we can, mostly, remember where we were, throughout our lives. For most of us, this will be our first Christmas at Linmere and for those spending it in a new home, it’s a time to add something new to your Christmas, to remember it by. Who knows, it might become a part of every Christmas from here on.
You’ll find a lot of ideas on American lifestyle websites, mostly craft and home baking. They’re festive, but not ideally suited to those without much free time. So, we shortlisted 4 ways to add something new to Christmases for busy lives. Practical, easy and not too time consuming.
One: Use a new decoration
This is popular in America and ideally suited to those who like to craft their own decorations. So, we thought there isn’t much in this idea, then we saw this link on Etsy and thought that’s a charming idea. Create your own personalised Christmas bauble for your Christmas tree. The seller suggests these can be delivered in time for Christmas. It’s a neat idea and a good gift for anyone moving into a new home.

Two: Start a new Christmas Tradition
As popular as Christmas is, it does take a lot of effort to get everything in place. Which means we’re very likely to follow the same to-do-list. We’ll be honest, it’s not easy to try out new ideas, but they don’t need to be game-changing. We’ve found lots of inspiration online, including small changes that will make this Christmas your Christmas. They can be small things like a Christmas playlist for the big day or having a Christmas movie night. Perhaps making every night a Christmas movie night or taking a family photo, every Christmas morning. To save listing them all here, we’ve found a website with many more, to add to your list.

03 Add something new to the Christmas dinner
When it comes to the turkey, parsnips, potatoes, and sprouts, we’re creatures of routine. Some of us might need a lot of convincing, more than we can offer here, to imagine a Christmas without the expected trimmings. For those of you tempted by adding a little something or going the whole hog, or even duck, we’ve found a good website packed with festive alternatives, including some good vegetarian options.

04 Your new Boxing Day Walk
If a bracing winter’s walk on Boxing Day isn’t traditionally your thing, it is now. There’s no better way to blow out the Christmas cobwebs and work off the turkey and pudding. Of all the ways to mark Christmas in a new place, taking a walk around Linmere, and beyond, is a perfect way to get to know where you live. And unless it’s blowing a force 10 blizzard, there really aren’t many excuses not to set out. The more invigorating the walk, the better that snooze in front of the TV when you get back.
We’re fortunate to have our own walking trails, the Linmere Loops, and some spectacular walks on the edges of the Chiltern Hills, just a short drive from Linmere. For more details on our Linmere Loops, use the link below and look out for our recommended Boxing Day Chiltern Hills walk next week!
