The Farmstead is at the heart of Linmere and is a focal point for the whole community. The Farmstead consists of 3 buildings around a central courtyard. Located within these buildings are a cafe, three retail units, a community hall and the site offices of Lands Improvement, there is also an adventure playground.
We are seeking two enthusiastic and experienced caretakers, one to cover week days and one to cover weekends. You will be joining our team at the Farmstead and will need to be a team player who takes pride in their surroundings. As our caretaker you will need to be flexible and self-motivated and ensure the safety, security and enjoyment of the Farmstead and its visitors are your priority.
The main duties and responsibilities are:-
- To be responsible for the day to day security of the site including the monitoring and maintenance of all security systems.
- To assist the Estate Manager in the day to day management of the site.
- Carry out daily safety and security checks and to report and issues.
- Ensure all communal spaces are safe and clean at all times.
- Ensure that the buildings are safely secured at the end of the day.
- Be responsible for ensuring that all the buildings are opened up in the morning.
- Monitor and re-order cleaning materials and janitorial supplies.
- Help to manage the community hall for bookings, which will include such task as arranging chairs and tables for meetings and clearing away after.
- Monitor the cleaning contractors and assist when needed.
- Assist the Estate Manager and marketing team during community events.
- Monitor all visiting contractors to site and ensure that they work safely and within our guidelines.
- Assist the Estate Manager to maintain and monitor all aspects of Fire and Health and Safety systems.
- To assist with basic grounds maintenance when required
- Help to ensure that our environmental objectives are met.
- Carry out small repairs and maintenance tasks.
Person Specification
Applicants should have a rounded experience with a range of good practical skills including security, maintenance of systems, buildings and a willingness to undertake customer facing duties when required.
Applicants should be :-
- Team player first and foremost.
- Literate and numerate
- Have and sound understanding of basic health and safety issues.
- Self motivated with a can do attitude.
- Flexible – be able to be called out to alarms etc
- Well presented at all times.
Enhanced DBS checks will be carried out.
