What is cohousing?

Cohousing is a type of community that is designed to enable social interaction and collaboration among its residents. Residents have their own private living space, as well as access to a number of spaces and resources which they share with their neighbours – such as a communal kitchen, dining room, garden and workspaces.

A key aspect of cohousing is the involvement of future residents in the early stages of planning and design, allowing them to create a community that meets their collective needs.

A collaborative approach

At Linmere, TOWN’s cohousing project will offer future residents the opportunity to engage in a codesign process, a collaborative design approach where residents work closely with architects and developers to shape both their homes and communal spaces to meet their needs.

The Linmere cohousing community will feature around 50 homes, with options suitable for a diverse, multi-generational community. Whether you’re an individual, a couple, a family, or a downsizer, the housing options will be varied to meet the evolving needs of future residents as the community forms during the codesign journey.
